enzo body panels - help !
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, September 9, 2004 9:10 PM
i have the interior and chassis of my tamiya enzo going great, but i am not brave enough to start the body. my problem is that the insides of all the tiny panels will have to be painted black before i can start the real outer surface treatment. im worried about how i should mask off the black portions while i do the outer surfaces....... should i use masking tape ? will that leave residue after staying on for goodness knows how long it takes me to get a good result on the outer panels ? or should i use maskol ? or should i use blu tack? i dont want to ruin it !

thanks for all your help !

Just use Tamiya masking tape. It should not leave any residue.

Yep! Agree with above!

Just note, I read somewhere that the Enzo's panels are well scaled (and fitting well) - before painting! Apparently after painting it's a quite tight fit, so beware! But then, it was onlt one guy that mentioned it... but it can't hurt to be carefull.

hey dude use a tamiya paint pen for the inside... paint the out side first then do the inside.... i masked half my enzo but that was a pain in the ****** and i had one of the pens laying round from yonks ago so i gave it a go.... the give a good finish and u wont go over the edges cvoz the tip is bevelled.... the only prob is that they only come in flat and gloss blk no semi gloss....
hope that helps...

i used a 2year old tamiya paint pen and the finish was excellent... better than hand brushing thats for sure(and it came out better than my shoddy spray job on the outside...)
