AMT Kits opposed to others

Hi guys,

For me their is no question. Tamiya all the way. You definatly have to pay for it but the qualiety is amazing. Down under you can get some very nice tamiya kits for the same if not slightly more than the Revell germany kits. I have one AMT kit and that is only because it is the only one i could get hold of for the subject I am affraed to start that one.

u get what you pay for. u pay thru the nose for tamiya, but u save on heart-attack medication. but having said that, randy is right, some of the newer tools are really really slick

I agree with chris, the only ones ive built were crap, but most of those were kits from last year and a couple form like 5 years ago so that may be it.

I guess I have just picked up the wrong AMT kits. The ones I have done have ben some of the most challenging builds in the aspect of correcting things. I have a couple of thier fire truck kits and they are nightmares. Just hope you never need thier customer "service"/

yeah AMT models are definitly cheap.

I feel the new tools AMT is doing, such as the 60 Ford, 57 Chrysler, 58 Plymouth, 62 T-bird, etc, rival Tamiya. Very nice, and nicely detailed, and fit very well.

In my humble opinion, there's not really that much wrong with AMT kits. Just look at my signature picture. AMT.

However, I agree that Tamiya has really awesome kits. Especially armor, and ships. A little pricey though.

For the money difference, and also the challenge, I can live with removing flash, and repairing a few sink holes, and adding missing detail.

I have found that the vest kit maker for the money would be revell, just because they are reasonably priced and their newer kits and even some of their older ones are very nice. For example, the enzo ferrari by revell, no flash, great fit, awsome detail. Youd swear it was tamiya if you havent built the tamiya one yet.

i used to just buy usa made models but now amt and revell are being made over seas and owed buy foreign countries i am looking at different companies and have not done a car by tamiya but i have done tanks and they are really great tons of detail

i pefer revell monogram over amt , with they did make models at least 1/24 scale instead of 1/25th

It really depends on what you are looking for. AMT does many domestic car kits and offer the best choice for customizing etc. They are also reasonabley priced so you can Kit Bash without having to re- mortage your house. Tamiya does very nice kits of esotaric cars and they are expensive and some times they do dogs like their 1/25 Mustang kits. Revell and AMT are getting better and are the only game in town for most Rods and Customs.

man, tamiya makes ertl look like toys. ertl kits fit togeather badly compared to tamiya too. im my opinion, tamiya has the best cars, armor, planes, and boats
