ALMS racers?
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, September 26, 2004 11:21 PM
I watched the Petite LeMans on SpeedVision this weekend. That series has some awesome racers: Lambourghini's, Saleen's, and a cool Red Bull sponsored car. Is anyone making models of these? I searched Ebay but found nothing. Cool paint scemes and body styles fill that series. They would be fun to build.

As far as I'm aware many are available in 1/43rd scale or at least their European equivlents as resin or white metal. Also try Le Mans Miniatures they do some (mainly from Le Mans) in 1/24th but again in resin and quite pricey but wonderful kits. Check out www.grandprixmodels.com and do a search through their database.

yeah i saw it too. it was about to go since i live in ga. revell makes the cr5. go to www.best1hobby.com and look for decal sets and stuff. alot of the cars like the porshes are made, just without the right stock decals. and do you know what type of ferarri that red one was?? it was awsome. those cr5's sure did look good on saturday night though. i like to see all the smoke in the lights of the pits. those brakes get smokin.

That Ferrari was a Modena I think. Seems like that one might be a bit easier to reproduce--graphics would be an issue. The ALMS series is pretty good for reference. www.risicompetizione.com is that Ferrari team's website. So many cool cars in that series. I hate sourcing decals though. It gets frustrating pretty quick. Hope someone puts a full kit together.

Al lot of these kits are out there in resin. Some are transkits like the Ferrari 360 which is based on the Tamiya kits with new Renaisance body and decals. Check out http://www.scaleracecars.com for many of these specialty kits.
