That's what I planned to do, but with what little work I think it'll take to finish these figures it may be easier to make each one an original. Can't say for sure, since I haven't started, though.

Thanks, for the info.

Must see if I can get those figs locally.

Might pose them, putty over the seams, add a bit of detail and cut them apart to make blanks that I can use for molds and cast my own generic rider figures in resin.

Thanks again.

MMF,
I, like you, was searching for 1/12 figures that I could modify into riders. Today I think I found a good base. Toy Biz makes 6" action figures that should be easy to modify. They are just about fully poseable (points of articulation vary with character) and can be had for less than $10. I got mine at ToysRUs. IMO the spiderman figures will make the best racing riders and Logan (X-men) will make the best street rider (he's already in jeans, boots, and leather jacket).

I bought the "Spider Sense Attack Spiderman" that I plan to make into a starting grid rider. I've test fit him on a couple of old built ups I have ( VFR-750 and YZR-750) and the fit is almost perfect. I was amazed with how many poses are possible with these figures. Now I'm going to have to get a couple more. Next step will be to CA the joints, then dress with epoxy putty (magic sculp). I hope to get started some time next week. I'll try to post some pics.

Give the figures a shot and let us know how it turns out.

I just managed to get hold of the Tamiya 1/12 Racing Rider.

Old kit and pose & detail will need to be adjusted for more modern Bikes, but if everyone is interested in it contact me.

Hi.

Just came back from the LHS and while I was there I noticed that Arfix has a few 1/12 scale Bikes with Riders out
Honda NSR500
Yamaha Y2R-M1

I am sure that the figs could be partially assembled and than be used as masters for copies.

To the best of my knowledge Tamiya has discontinued making those figure Kits, the only one I see popping up at times is the off-road rider.
They released them as sets wtih the Bikes or as indivitual Kits with some extra decals.

Some Company in Japan offers a Harley Rider and some ladies for the pillion seat those are Resin Kits though and I think are aimed for stationary Bikes.
Nothing in racing riders though.

BTW, anybody know of a source for 1/12 scale people & Accesories, don't need to be bike related I need a few for a Motorbike Diorama I am planning.

Got plenty of parts left over from building Bikes, lights, indicators, fairings, forks, exhausts, engines, etc and thinking of making a 2nd-hand Bike shop with a parts corner. Plus, quiet a few of my Bike Models are customs and would go well with it.

Would need a mechanic, shop-keeper and maybe one or two cutomers.
I am willing to cutomise the figures, also got about 6 spare helmets thanks to Aoshima.
Action figures would also work as I can pose them and than putty over the joints.

John,
There's very few 1/12 scale motorcycle riders out there.......Tamiya have made a couple, though.
There were four that I can recall, but I'm not sure any of them are still in production.
There was Kenny Roberts and his YZR500, he's hanging off the bike in a corner,
There was a racer crouched over the tank like he was screaming down the straight,
There was a racer pushing starting his bike,
and there was a guy with a headband riding a Virago.
I've got the Tamiya 2003 cattledog (catalogue) and none of them are in it. That doesn't mean that they don't have any - maybe try to contact Tamiya in writing and ask if they're in production - or try swap meets or ebay.
Cheers, Lee Tree

Tamiya is a GREAT maker of 1/12 scale motos. From Superbikes to Cruisers some of the better models are sometimes expensive, but you can get a good deal here and there, as you know. a great site with lots of tips--->
