hello and grettings, to every one

i am nfpa1002 , and i am a semi " novice" modeler, maybe a master in some circles, but I am still learning. dose any one know what method can be used for charged and uncharged hose lines? I have just goten "Terry Jessee's book and i hve been going threw old issues of ? scale auto.sorry>? but i am tring to research material for a diorama ('s) for fire sceens. I have the elastic material for the hose bed, and know vertical and horisonal hose lays are "Juristional " regulated . also I want to sculpt turnouts in both scales, so give me what you have.Smile [:)] i have photo's and resharch images....techniques are what i need.
thank you for you time and sorry for this long read.....

Welcome to the forum. I have came up with a few ideas for some trucks I have been doing recently and eventhough I have yet to try them here is what I have. For uncharged line you could try shoestring or some desoldering braid. For charged, I have thought about some of that braided insulation cover type stuff on some wires. Just have to figure out where to get some.
As far as turnout gear, if you do not have any luck at sculpting it, there are some places that seel it a resin cst pieces. Youc an get it looking like it hanging up or laying on the ground.
Hope that helped a bit.

Here are a couple tricks that I have used for fire hose. For charged lines I have used 2mm rat tail cord. This is a round braided cord usualy found in craft and sewing stores. It looks very realistic. I used 4mm rat tail for hi vol hose. I have also used fine bunggy cord but its hard to find less than 3 mm dia. for flat hose you could try seem binding tape or elastic banding. You'll find both it in the sewing section of dept stores. I think that most shoe strings tend to be too thick for scale looks.

I use styrene strips that you get from Evergreen or Plastruct for uncharged hose, just cut it long short just like you load the real thing, round the edges a little and paint. Then put a nozzle or small piece of tubular stock on with some putty to round the "hose" into the nozzle or coupling. Works pretty well and not really that hard to do.

I haven't really tried to do charged hose but I use 18-22 gauge wire to build the hardline on hose reels.

Never tried scupting turnout gear but maybe that modeling clay you can bake? It comes in all kinds of colors so would not need painting but I think it can be painted if you desire.
