Custom Paint jobs??

i have never done it, but RC car modellers do flames and the like all the time on their paintjobs. perhaps you can do a google on articles on RC paintjobs and apply them to your current build. the first step in the right direction to a flame job is paper stencils for faded flames. check out www.rc411.com www.rccaraction.com for articles.

I just saw some laser cut tape stencils for doing flames at a local hobby store. I think they were from detail master. Might be helpful, but I don't really know since I've never tried painting flames.

So far I am playing with 2 ideas for masking the flames off:
1.) Using very thin strips of masking tape to mask the outline and than cover the rest with masking tape.
2.) Putting a wide strip of masking tape/material on the body drawing on there the flames and than cutting the area to be painted out.

Need to collect more photos of actual paintjobs to see if I need to dulicate the breaker .line, as it would hardly be visible in 1/12 or 1/24 scale.

Don't think I will use stencils for the flames as I don'(t think that they will work for Bikes.

I have never tred it but their was an indepth article on how to go abput it in the october 2003 issue of scale auto mag. Hope this helps?

Might try it on a 1/12 custom chopper(Harley or Honda Shadow) soon.
Still undecided what type of flames I will use or what colours, two types I am thinking off are:
1.) Ghost Flames
2.) Ice blue Flames.
