Thanks to all for the bump in the right direction reguarding detail parts.
I found some of the items that I thought would help to complete my project, but many items were out of stock, blast it! I hope that the good folks at,
http://www.racingminiatures.com/securestore/c181479.2.html
will be doing a rather large restocking order very soon.
(Too much info on the link??)Question [?]
These people have a treasure house of stuff for anyone with an eye to improving the quality of your standard kit, I suggest that you give them a look!
Now it's just a mater of time (grumble, grumble) waiting for the parts I ordered to arrive and, hopefully, lots more detail items to flow into the suppliers coffers.
Thanks again for your help, John.

QUOTE: Cheers for linking to my site, (msmodels)

It is a good site. Very nicely done and the models look great. I only found it a few days ago myself. I'd like to see some reference photos of other F1 cars if you've got them. Thanks for providing a good resource for us car modellers.

No one that I know of makes a detail set for this particular kit. Scale Motorsports makes some generic harness and nut/bolt/screw/washer/dzus fastner sets. Perfect Parts makes a bunch of different 1:12 scale detail items like hardware, electronic fittings, safety harness sets, etc. They're sold by www.racingminiatures.com. You might also want to get a set of Camel decals to complete the model, since they are not included int he Tamiya box. While at RacingMiniatures website, check out the scale AN fittings by RB Motion, they'll really come in hand when plumbing the car.

I'm not affiliated with any of these companies, but I have used their products in my builds.

Hi there SeaBee and pingtang.
Thank you both for your help. Sorry about the hang time on a reply, day job, don't you know.
pingtang, those photos on the site that you referred me to were awesome!
Looks like I'm going to be spending lots of time with a magnifying glass and a whack of scratch building components.
This forum has been a real help.
Thanks to all of you.
John.

Nothing helps me more with detailling than good reference photos. So here are my best link for FW-14 pics.:

http://www.msmodels.co.uk/refphotos/fw14b.php

Heaps of good, high quality pics here. Apologies if you've seen it before.
Also, try a photo etch detail set. Scale motorsport might make one, but I'm not sure, I've never really looked into it. Some carbon fibre decals would be good too. Scale motorsport or studio 27 make this. Apart from that, some wire, scratchbuilding and patience should do the trick.

Hope it helps.

There is also a Tamiya Modeling Mag. I can't remember the edition off-hand, but will try to get the detail for you. If you want more detail than that, you'll really be spirited!

If I don't get back to you shortly, don't shoot me, I'm in the process of moving house and a lot of stuff are allready packed. Mine still in the to-do-pile! Busy with the Ferrari 641/2.

Hi there Folks
I have just started this kit, and would appreciate any advice on hyper-detailing my attempt at perfection. I am ordering the Jan. '96 copy of "Fine Scale Modeler" with the article by Paul Smith, but until it arrives I would like to get some other points of view on this F1 beauty.
Also, if you have any recomendations on airbrushes, please let me know.
Thanks Bunches, John. Big Smile [:D]
