1/4 scale slant 6 update
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, November 11, 2004 12:18 PM
Not having instructions has made this the most challenging of all. It is also the coolest kit I have seen. The pistons have 4 rings, there are rod bolts for the main bearings, connecting rods, the cam shaft turns the dist. you can even turn the dist. to adjust the timing. All of the valves open and close. Revell put the parts list on the bottom of the box which helped finding where stuff goes. I wish we could get more of these kits for different motors. I would like to see a 1/4 kit of a Harley motor

You'll probably "never" see anything relating to the internals of a Harley engine. I build working gas and steam engines and had started on a Harley engine a number of years ago. I had a couple of questions about something inside the engine and wrote to Harley and included pictures of some of my model engines. I did get an answer back but it said that everything was proprietary information and they couldn't help me. That's not to say that if a large company paid enough licensing money they couldn't get it done but don't hold your breath.

Marushin did a 1/6 scale functional engine model of the 1948 Panhead 1200, it was a metal model.

Still trying to convince a friend of mine to sell me his, which is still unbuild.

HTH.

I'm a "lurker" here, currently not building anything, too many 1:1 scale projects, but thot I'd chime in on this one...

Woolfster, do you still want scans of the instructions for this kit? I have a complete one (unbuilt) that a friend who owned a hobby shop got for me, and I will get them scanned tomorrow (Tuesday), along with the little booklet that tells about how it works and all. This kit is extremely cool, and goes well with my (also unbuilt) auto chassis. Sorry I didn't see your request earlier, but I was working on a Visible V8 Chevy, among others (those 1:1 scale things I mentioned earlier) If interested, let me know and I'll forward.

Best regards,
Tom
