I'm looking to build the Airfix 1/32 Jaguar E-Type as launched in 1961. Can anyone suggest as to what needs correcting, enhancing, availablility of extra's? Is there any articles written about said model?
What is the best way of achieving 'chrome' effect?

The 2 best ways of getting a chrome effect, short of plating are either Bare Metal Foil, or Chrome Alclad II.

I doubt there are any aftermarket bits for this kit. Try www.hlj.co or www.rainbowten.co.jp they have good aftermarket departments

I've never use Alclad paints before, are there techniques to using it? I like the idea of metal foil, I might have to experiment with this idea.
As for the aftermarkets bits, I didn't have much hope but I'll have a look at where you suggest. Thanks.

Hi!
There is no special techniques as far as applying Alclad II, just ordinary air brushing. The tricky part is that you must have a dead smooth surface to put it on (as with BMF) or you will see the blemishes right through the shiny stuff. Believe me...it's shows really good to Cool [8D]

Having read this thread I`d thought I`d try the tin foil method on a spare truck bumper (fender?). I was so pleased with the result that I think that from now on it will be part of many future projects.

Thanks guys. So the trick with Alclad is smooth and blemish free surface.
I must admit your truck looks good with the chrome effect and if you're more than pleased using foil then it'll be worth a try. How difficult do you think it'll be to do spoked wheels for this Jag?

I think that with some foil burnished down and then a black wash will bring them to life very good. That is if the wheels are solid with just imprints of the spokes, my wife did that on here Jaguar SS100 from Matchbox and it looks really good.

The wheels are solid. I think this foil option is the best so far, and as you say, a nice black wash should bring the detail. Thanks Niclas.
