Anyone for an RC211V GB?
Posted by pingtang on Monday, December 20, 2004 9:26 PM
G'day everyone;

Anyone interested in starting a Honda RC211V Group build? Any version of any kit would be allowed. I'm gonna start work on one soon so I thought I'd see if there was any interest in a GB.

Sorry, racing bikes are not too my liking.
Don't even like many of the crotch-rocket kits out there.

Gimme a chopper, custom or standard road-bike(80's prefered) anytime.

Good to see someones interested. Now we just need a few more and it might be a goer. I know there are people ot there interested in modern moto GP bikes so hopefully we might be able to get it going.

Meeee, meeee!!

Haha, Joel and I was just "talking" in another thread about how these have a tendancy to overstock shelves and I was actually wondering about a GB as well.

Problem is, I'm right in the middle of one and in the Rally GB as well, so I have to finisg this one first before starting up on the RC211V GB. So... what's the starting date going to be?

Don't know when the starting date will be. If we get enough people in, then we'll think about stuff like that. Maybe we can have a sort of in-formal GB, where everyone just starts and finishes when they want. We can start up a thread to show off our work, ask questions, share referance material and just hang out. How does that sound?

O.K. So it`s a dumb question. What`s a group build and how does it work?
The new Eurofighter is a group build. Left wing made in UK , right wing in Belgium etc. etc. Is the same principal?

No, it's not a dumb question, I had to ask it myself just a few months ago!

Unlike the Eurofighter (good one!) each guy participating in a GB build a whole model. Basically it's about one topic, all sharing info, pics of progress, sharing tips, helping out in sticky situations. Great fun! Good place to learn and share.

pingtang, the idea of keeping it informal sounds way cool!

OOOOOHHHH YEAH!

Got me an '02 Rossi version collecting dust right now. I've done three '03's so this will be new territory for me. Only thing is, Rossi's M1 is also staring me in the face, aching to be built. Then, I've a got that V-22, but I won't get into that. Let us know when, I'm in! Also, does anyone know if the tabacco version decals are out for the M1 yet?Big Smile [:D]

Is four people enough to start a GB? I know the auto's forum isn't the most popular forum around here, but I think we should be able to get a few more. One or two more and it's a definite goer. But even with four of us we might be able to do it.

That's five. I think this might work. Five should be enough to have a GB. When does everyone think we should start? Or do you think the informal idea is better?

Hey, where's cupcai? I thought I was missing a familiar name... Maybe busy on something else...

pingtang, why not just give it a go.
More likely than not we'll have more joiners as we go.

Hi All...would like to join this project but my busy travelling schedule will certainly take me months before I can complete a model kit. I would like to contribute by answering or posting some close up photo. Waiting for next year's IRTA official testing in Sepang and hope to take some spy shot of 2005 machine.

I've just posted the thread on the GB forum, so pop over there and have a look and post the info on your builds. If we get a cool looking badge I'm sure we'll get some more people in. I might post some referance links that I have, but feel free to post anything you have.

The GB thread is up in the group build forum for anyone who didn't know yet. Drop over there and let us know what you are building.

Just the middle one appliciable on the new M1, as it runs Gauloises sponsor decals, the other two are for the 2001 Biaggi bike.
