Future as a final coat

Thanks for the help..I'll give it a try.Without you'r advice I would have ruined it before getting it started. It's a '60 chevy hardtop

Kryolon Fusion has been marketed as a paint of the furture that is suposed to bond with plastic on a molecular level.

It lives up to that claim. It is basically an etching paint, but I have shot some pieces of molded nylon and polypropelene and it actually sticks to the it. Props to Krryolon and the Fusion paint. The black that I used dried pretty flat making it a good primer.

Krylon Fusion is a spray paint made for plastic, you can find it in many hardware stores walmart etc. It is good stuff and quite forgiving, I have been kind of sloppy a few times and expected drips but it came out perfect.

Future over the top of a paint job does do a nice job of making a smooth finish, I have had a few paint jobs that were not as good as I had hoped but Future does a good job of filling in low spots or evening out orange peel.

I like to let the paint cure for a few days then I put it on straight from the bottle with a brush but most recommend spraying it. For spraying I think you can thin it with water, or use it full strength. For clean up use an ammonia based window cleaner like windex. You can also use this to strip it if you don't like it.

Krylon Fusion is in fact a "rattle" spray can ... you can find it in a variety of colors at most any Wal-Mart, Meijer, Target, or other hardware type stores ... good hunting ...

What is Krylon Fusion paint---Is it in a spray can? Where can I get some?

That Fusion paint is pretty nice. I have used it for some other tasks besides modeling and it is good stuff.

I did not polish the truck in my sig at all. Sprayed it with Krylon Fusion and put two coats of future on it, one before and one after the decals. Turned out the best gloss job I have ever had.

yeah, you can clear coat with future and get it pretty shiny. Future over bare styrene will give you problems, though.

You can wet sand dry future also, and make it mirror smooth. Hit it with a final wet coat of very thin and light future.

with Future, follow the 48 hour law to a T. Let it dry for 48 hours before masking over it, sanding, washing, or the like.

If I prime & paint it white--Then coat it with future as a short cut to polish?? Has anyone ever done this?

you could gloss it with laquer clear as it will etch the surface, but I would highly recommend priming it and painting it white. I subscribe to the old law of priming and painting everything.
