BA Ford Falcon - Some Aussie flavour!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, January 16, 2005 9:32 AM
Hi,
I am Nenad Mitrovic. I am on the Aussie Modellers Forum, and this is one of my entries into the Aussie Group Build 2005. I have decided to take another crack at finishing it. This is a kitbash/scratchbuild of a locally produced road going car. It's a Ford Falcon (model BA).

So far I have chopped and repositioned the roof of my donor kit.

I have also modified the rear to represent the AU Falcon, but this will now be reworked to represent the BA Falcon (shown above). I have also made the slab sides by supergluing sheet styrene to the sides and profiling them along the top. Still needs some work as it's only roughed out at present.

I was stumped on the front end, and then one day it hit me. I can't believe the Ford Australia styling designers ripped off the Mustang SVT front end so much. Here are the comparison shots.

What do you guys think of this similarity?

I have been out at a car yard taking lots of pictures and measurements and can confirm that so far this models dimensions(wheelbase, width, height etc) are accurate.
Big Smile [:D]

After I graft the Mustang's front end, it is a matter of massaging the body into shape. Currently the rear is based on the previous unsuccessful model (AU) which I am now scrapping in favour of this one. When done with the road going version I want to make a copy of it and modify it into the V8 Supercar version which has won the V8 Supercar Championship 2 years running. Here are pics of the race car/

This is a WIP thread. So I will be working on it when I can. I hope you enjoy my progress on this model.

Cheers
Nenad

Nenad,
Looks good so far, mate. I'd love to see Marcus Ambrose's car all done up in the Pirtek warpaint. You might get inspiration by heading to a local hobby shop that sells the 1/18 scale versions (made by AutoArt or Biante) - they're really very good and have pretty accurate markings, so it's worth a look.
Make sure you post progress pics as you get along with it.
Cheers mate.

Cheers, LeeTree

Chris & Lee,
The base kit is AMT's Chrysler Concorde Slammer.

As I said,
I have reworked the rear end. It was originally going to be an AU, but I never had the heart to finish itCensored [censored]. So I decided to carry on with it as a BA. This week I have started modifying the rear end to that of the BA. Next week it will be grafting on the front end...Wish me Luck! Banged Head [banghead]

That is a nice looking car there. I like to see cars from other places in the world. Looks like you have a real nice conversion going there. Can't wait to see the finished product. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing!
