Hopefully this will give you some idea, I thought I had one looking up the ladder from the base but I don't.

This is from a mid 1970's Seagrave

Good question, most of the aerials I see now are white painted with what looks like an epoxy or powder coat. I think for what you are doing aluminum would be the best finish, most of the ones I've seen from the 80's and earlier seem to have been bare aluminum. I have a pic of one I can post when I get home tommorrow so you can see what they look like up close.

As far as using a European ladder with the Ford, I have seen a few pics of American commercial trucks with ladders like the one on the Mercedes kit, not common but they existed.

Hi all,
well i got the Mercades uro ariel Fire apparatus . for the For Fire Cab. I decided to use the Shortened Cab. for this Kit. Both are 1/24 scale .
I thought the might not make the conversion. useing the Ford cab on the euro frame style, but looks ok.
Hears the question I do intende to paint the Apparatus Red. But for the crome ?

I was not sure if i might do home all / Foil? or Paint ?
for the age of " Ford Cab" / euro swap... any oppinon would be nice.

The ariel, can be extened and retacted .Was White used in what area?
