AMT/ERTL Nascar photo

Well, some of you may have read my whining a while back about the AMT/ERTL Nascar model I was building for my friend at work, although the overall quality of the kit was quite poor compared to the Trumpeter kit I have been working on, it actually turned out pretty good, it only took a little over a week to complete (mostly waiting for the paint to dry and such) and most importantly, the guy I built it for was very impressed, He couldn't believe it was the same white car and pieces he saw when he opened the box, He told me he had actually bought sharpie markers and was going to try to color it with them Shock [:O].
He was so happy that I casually mentioned one day that I have been building models my whole life and was more than willing to build the kit for him, I even threw in a plastic display case to keep the dust off it, so here is the finished product:

I kind of enjoyed it once I got past all the excess flash, it was a quick little project that felt like a break from the normal more advanced kits I'm used to, and my friend was just ecstatic when he saw it, I admit it looks pretty good, but his reaction was more than I expected...AWESOME! DUDE! THAT'S AWESOME!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S THE SAME CAR!!! AWESOME!!! Cool [8D]

That's a nice looking build you have there, paz!Thumbs Up [tup] I haven't built one of AMT's NASCARs in quite a few years but after seeing this, I may pick up another one. Keep it up!

Thanks! They seem okay for a quickie project or something to do while waiting for other stuff to dry, I'm thinking of building one for myself! Cool [8D]

The guy I built this car for has found another variation of the same drivers car, this time gold/black, so it looks like I might be doing another Nascar in the near future, oh well, at least they aren't that time consuming.

Looks pretty good. Alot better than if it had been colored with Sharpies I would think.

I've had a bad experience with AMT/ERTL. Built their Shelby cobra. Pieces didnt fit right at all. I wish more companies made NASCAR models...

Revell makes some Nascar models, which I know isn't a big improvement over AMT, but I haven't built a Revell Nascar so I can't really make a comparison.

I did have a few problems with fit and actually had to cut the alignment pins off of several parts to get them to line up properly, there was plenty of flash on the parts that had to be cleaned off and I think the body was a bit warped.
But with a little patience and thanks to years of modeling experience, it actually came out looking good, and the guy I built it for was so impressed that he wants me to do another one for him.
