Matthew Usher's 1/8 Highboy

If you get a chance pick up Scale Auto and check out Matthew Usher's 1/8 '32 Ford Highboy, it truly is a gorgeous build. I was very suprised.....and the technique he used to paint inset letters is genius.....I'm kicking myself for not thinking of it first..... Only thing I did notice is that they cut out a lot of the pics that must have been submitted with the article.....soooooo just in case (cause I know he pops by every once in a while), Hey Matthew what did you use for the window trim? Was that bare metal foil? If so....SPECTACULAR!!!

Thanks for the kind words! I so glad you liked the article!

Scale Auto is right down the hall from FSM World Headquarters, and they're great about letting me get my car-modeling fix every now and then.

The 1/8 scale Big Deuce kit has been around for a loooong time, but if you're a hot-rod fan you really owe it to yourself to build one at least once. It's a truly impressive model when it's done. More importantly, it's a great building challenge, since there's very, very little in the way of aftermarket detail parts for it, you pretty much have to fabricate anything you want to add -- kinda like building a real hot rod, I guess! I built the kit as a flathead-powered car as it might have appeared in the late '50s.

Here are a couple of shots of it:

I hope you guys like it!

Nice work Matthew, yet another color combination for me to think about, very understated.
