Dodge Dakotas, PT Cruisers, and Neons

Good luck on finding "regular" plastic kits of those subjects. I did see a resin body kit of a NEON at a model car show and I'll dig through the information I picked up at the show to see IF I can lead you to the "manufacturer". I'm guessing it is a small "basement" operation, and I do not remember if I picked up a business card. I'll let you know if I find it.

I'm also a big Mopar fan and would like to see a PT Cruiser.

have never found "real" kits for the Dakota, bought 2 Red SNAPs, took one apart and painted it to match my REAL one (see below), still have a red one left if you want to buy it.

There is a 95-96 Neon Promo in 1/25 made by the Brookfield Guild, in both two and four door versions. It's the only plastic Neon I have found. It's pretty decent, and when painted looks OK. You'll have to search the promo dealers or look on Ebay to find one. They usually sell for $25 or so.

Thanks for the offer. I would really like to have the standard cab though, as that is what I drive. I bought it new in Sept 2001, with 24 miles on it. It now has 174,300 miles on it, and still going strong, with no problems (other than a bad gas cap, and I warped the front rotors a while back). It has a 2.5 liter Jeep engine in it, with a 5-speed manual. I love my little Dakota. It's a great truck.

Thanks, Par429!! You're the first person to tell me someone actually made a kit of any form of the Neon. I will definitely take a look at eBay for it. I used to have a 1997 Neon two-door, and have always wanted to build a model of it. I'm surprised that no major kit maker (Revell, Monogram, AMT, Ertl, etc.) has made a kit of it. When the Ford Focus was introduced, almost everyone had a kit of it out about a month later. Oh well.

I'm still ticked at Chrysler for discontinuing the two-door version.

dog: I have attempted the same thing for all the cars I've ever owned, and the thing you mention (not being able to find the exact model and year) is frustrating
so far I have: 67 Mustang (had to use a 68 Fastback) 78 El Camino (no prob)
84 Civic DX (no prob) 90 Mustang GT (used an 88, no real difference) 92 Accord Wagon (had to use a different year) 98 Dakota Club-Cab (no prob) 84 El Camino (used an 86, no real difference) there were a few others in between not worth trying. Good luck finding the ones you need :)

Thanks, bbailey_33. That's a great-looking blue Dakota model, by the way. While we're on the subject of MOPARs, does anyone make a model of a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker 4-door? I currently own one, and would love to have a model of that as well. All the searching that I've done on the Internet for a model of it turns up nothing (as you might expect).
