This may sound like a dumb question but what is the idea of a group build? does everyone do the same kit at the same time? Do you exchange progress photos?
This doesn`t really affect me because if the group was for 1:24 scale trucks - I`d be the only one in it !!!

count me in. I do a lot of autos (just bought my first plane just to see how the wingie things went Smile [:)]). I do a lot of 60's era hot rods and NASCAR models. I know there are not to many that are into that because they are all the same, but they are fun to those of us who love to watch. I have never been involved in a GB but it sounds like fun. My only concern is a time limit. I dont get much time to build but I take advantage of every second I get. Hope to join if possible.. thanks Shane

Hey if there's a car GB, I'll be in. I'm not subject specific, so I didn't join the rally car GB, as I'm not into rally cars. Maybe to get some more interest, we should have a generic car GB, something like Sports, Muscle, GT car GB.

I'm with Nicolma on this on. The Racing Car GB last year was great fun. Most of us are currently involved in the Rally GB (I must still take pics...) and the RC211V GB.

As for hotrods, I'll pass on that one! Wink [;)] But what about a 2005 Racing GB again? Anything goes - DTM, F1, you name it... (?)

THERE IS A AUTO GB GUYS.

Admittedly there isn't a huge amount of interest but its been underway for a couple of months and is on the rally car theme. Last year we had a race car GB. There is also, or was, one for bikes as well.

hey all,

I dont normally build cars, and havnt participated in a group build either, so if you wanna newbie hangin out I might be interested. I just happen to have a 55 chevy pickup in my to be done pile (as small as it is). I couldnt do it if there was a finish date, I have a 1/25 centurion kit going, 1/72 camel kit getting started, and I just plain take a long time. So if there is no definate finish date I might be interested if you all wanna babysit and walk me through my first GB Big Smile [:D]

I think if we want to have an Auto build, we should pursue it with this "Auto" section's participation. I'm happy there are other places to do one of these, but after considering it, I can't remember a GB in the Auto section... maybe there was, I just can't remember it.
A bunch of us get together in here and have a good time with it. If there's 50 participants, or 5, it's as important TO those 5 regardless, and justifies seeing it through..... my opinion only. Smile [:)]

As for regenerating a Civil Aviation effort, as far as I'm concerned, the same guidelines apply.... if 3 people participate and maybe learn a little something along the way, then it's been JUST as important as the big ones. Wink [;)]

Any effort would have to be planned, as several have things going right now, me included, but lets keep in touch about it, and when everyone's ready to start, I'd be happy to participate. Smile [:)]

Thanks for your kind words ChemMan, and I'll look forward to building with you. Smile [:)]

Take care,
Frank

Over at scalehobby we are starting a Tamiya Ferrari 360 GB (called a build along over there) next month or so. We are encouraging people to use any aftermarket items they want. I'm using a Renaissance 360GT resin conversion kit. There's only 3 of us in the build so far, but we don't mind. We have no completion date either. That way theres no pressure to finish.

come check it out

I would like to paticipate in an auto GB one of these days. Playing off the "Mad Build" idea maybe something like a "month long curbside group build", no time real soon however.

Ghetto - I assume there are no auto group builds here because FSM's sister publication, Scale Auto, has its own website and there seem to be a lot of strictly auto group builds there (called "community build projects"). I tend to like both autos and airplanes (sign of a disordered personality, no doubt) so I cruise both sites.

Frank - I had to drop out of the civil group build owing to a recent relocation, but I'd be glad to do another one if my models and tools ever catch up to me. I really like civil aviation, and your contribution to the CA group build was second to none of the military efforts.

If your definition of "civil aviation" includes commercial stuff, I'd be willing to do a group build next year, even if it's just us two! I was looking at the minicraft kits today online and I amd really jonesing to do one of them.

There was hardly any interest at all and I grew weary of being the only one who was posting anything, so it was dropped. Aviation (military subjects) & Armor seem to dominate people's attention in the Group Builds... nothing wrong with that, mind you, but a variety once in a while sure would be nice! Smile [:)]
