Making scale car tires
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, March 26, 2005 3:07 PM
Hello Fellow scale modellers,

Is there anyone who can give me more information about how to make scale car tires in a scale 1:8. I have a couple of Pocher models and am thinking of building an Bugatti (Type 35 or 57) or Classic Ferrari (250 GTO, 250 Testarossa or California spyder) car model in the same scale from scratch.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Martijn (The Netherlands)

Hi Martijn - that's a pretty ambitious project. Gerald Wingrove devotes six pages to making tyres in his book The Complete Car Modeller (New Cavendish Books ISBN 0 904568 13 X), you could probably get a copy from Amazon if you cannot get it locally in Holland. For the Bugattis Pocher tyres would probably do and I'm sure you could buy these from David Cox at www.modelmotorcars.com - I know he sells bits and pieces of Pocher parts off and probably has tyres if you drop him an email. The 1/8 size for the Ferraris may be harder to source.

I have scanned the six pages from the book in pdf. but they come to nearly 6mb file size! - if you want them drop me an email to martsmodels@yahoo.co.uk and I'll stick them in the post for you if you give me your address.
