On this link to the Alclad2 home... on the left side is a tab for autos. Theres a link for a lotus kit with Alclad2 used then a second link that shows a kit super detailed. On the superdetailed link the first few pics are of the lotus's engine but then they start to show a second kit.... what is it???

If you're talking about the more modern F1 under the link Dateil Gallery - Detail Gallery 2/3/4: it's a Renault. Cannot see enough to make out the model. Oh, obviously it's the "old" Renault, the white and yellow ones driven in the 80's. Not the new team.

It's a Renault RE-20 or 23. It was raced in 1980 by Rene Arnoux and Jean-Pierre Jabouille. The kit is probably the Tamiya 1:12 scale one. You'll have a hard time finding one of those now though. The detail could be pretty much out of the box. Those Tamiya kits were pretty well detailed from what I here. Probably some scratch building there, but I don't think any PE.

There were also kits of those cars by Protar and Heller in 1:12 scale, but I think they'd be hard to find too.

If you want to build a early renault turbo like that, you might be able to find the Tamiya 1:20 scale RE 30B. They are out of production now, but there is probably still some around.

Thanks Daniel. As you know I am not a big car builder (how many post do I have in this section now...3 :) ). Looking at that model though just got me going on it.

Is that indy or Formula??

It is F1.

I actually built the 1:12 Protar one, just to have it utterly destroyed by a visisting friend's toddler... *sigh* They had a metal (lotsa white-metal parts) and a non-metal version.

The one in the pic is actually the Tamiya model - you can tell from the instruction manual. Don't think there's much metal in there (stand to be corrected). I think it's actually Alclad wanting to show off their paint! Wink [;)]

Not a bit of metal in the kit.
I have most of the 1/12th kits from Tamiya prior to the McLaren, Williams, Ferrari ones that did include PE, maybe not the McLaren. . .
I picked them up at sales for less than $40 each, except the Matra which I got for $20!
As you can tell with the Alclad pics, you don't need PE! The seat belts are included in the kits.
The way Tamiya has been re releasing kits and the sudden surge of Renault we may see these kits again. . .or a new kit! That would be really neat.

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.
