Do we want a Bentley Le Mans kit?
Posted by Martsmodels on Sunday, June 15, 2003 3:04 PM
I have the impression that we 'Brits' are a minority on this site - and that is fair enough ,but news today that Bentley have taken 1ast and 2nd at Le Mans must stir the blood of all Motor Racing fans. At last that great name is back.
Will we ever see a kit of this car? Would you buy? What scale?

How about some feedback for Mr Tamiya - Fujimi - Revell etc.?

(Le Mans Miniatures make a kit of last years car at around £85 ($110) - that, to me, is too much!)

I'd have bought one before they won LeMans. Best looking sports car since Silk Cut Jags - and I'm no Brit!
1/24 is my vote, Mr Tamiya.

I've already been searching for a kit for the last few months with no luck. Apparently an independent design studio has submitted a proposal to Tamiya for a kit based on their specs, but I imagine Tamiya will go straight to the factory for the actual blueprints if they green-light the project. I hope they do! I think it's the best looking race car in years. And I'm not a Brit, either...

Crasher,
Go Bentley, Go!! They are without a doubt (or as Murray Walker says - Unless I'm very much mistaken.....) an amazing looking car. I'd buy a 1/24 scale model of one in a New York minute.
I'd love to see one soon..................

Absolutely! Tongue [:P] I'm waiting for someone to offer a reasonably priced 1/43 resin kit. Maybe Marsh or Starter.

Slight change of subject: How does the average "Brit" feel about the company that built engines for the Spitfire and Hurricane now being owned by the company that built engines for the Fw-190? Sad [:(] They lost the shooting war and are now winning the economic war. Sir Winston must be spinning in his grave!

I'd prefer 1/24 or larger but didn't make that clear in my original post (probably too many cans imbibed watching the Canadian GP). It sounds as if a kit may be on the cards from Tamiya then sometime in the future.

Don't know what you would consider a reasonable price for a 1/43 'schmeter pit'
Provence Moulage and Rennaisance do kits of all the Le Mans cars, including yesterdays winner, ranging from about £32-46 available from
http://www.grandprixmodels.co.uk/
if that is any use to you.

Bit small for me at 1/43 although I'm slowly coming around to the idea - at least the vast range of subjects is better than 1/24 (depending on you interests of course)

Cheers - M

Schmeter pit, my wife is a Brit, and grew up owning the original Mini Coopers. She says the new German ones are "fakes". To her, the new Mini may be a great little car, but it isn't the Mini in any way and should've been named and badged as an all new car. Whether you agree with her or not, take my word for it, you don't want to argue with her on this one. Owners of the original Mini's feel very strongly about the heritage being "stolen" (her words, not mine).

That's right, it is a fake! The new Mini only kinda looks like the original. And not even a Cooper engine! And the price! Angry [:(!]

As for Rolls Royce and Bentley, a TRAVESTY! Disapprove [V]

Crasher,
I'd buy two kits (at least) as there were two cars that ran and won - gotta have both of them.
Besides - it's a freaking amazing looking car - looks mean and nasty - I just have to have two.
What about it Tamiya? With engine detail and all....................
