Many of the Burago models I have seen just do not look "right". They look out of proportion, and the shapes do not look right. That is an opinion because I have never taken a set of calipers to one of their models. Non the less, they look to me more like toys than scale replicas.

Should take you at least 20 minutes to build from a kit. Joking apart though I'd agree that they are more toy like. I've just got hold of one of their 1/24 Type 57 Bugatti Atlantic Coupe kits and to tell the truth it's pretty dire. I've completely stripped the body at this stage and sourced some decent wheels and a few other bits and pieces and hope to fit the interior out with leather, flock etc etc. IF it works I'll let you know how it goes - as the main body shell is basically sound I don't see why it can't be turned into a half decent model with a bit of effort, although it will never have the level of detail we expect in a plastic.

I have experience with the 1/43 Saab 900 and I thought it was very good. When you strip the paint and get rid of the toy wheels it is a good base. Check the picture of my profile and you can see "my " car. It used to have door mirrors but over the years they got knocked off. The inside need serious work. There is no steering wheel and the seats are just plain bad looking. Most of that sin is covered if you leave the tinted windows in place. I am building a friends car at the moment and have been able to get good matches for the wheels at www.grandprixmodels.com.
