Turntable for Display?

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the Forums!

I can't think of a specific manufactured turntable, but you could always get one of the old vinal "record" turntables and use it within a scratch built display base. Of course, you'd have to make some kind of "brake" in order to regulate the turning speed, but it would be an interesting concept.

Hi Jim......I made a turntable for a 1/24 scale car (Ferrari). I purchased a 1 rpm motor from Princess Auto. I secured it into a piece of wood, and used an axle and wheel assembly out of my 8 yr olds' broken RC truck. I secured the wheel into a piece of stryofoam which I cut to size for the car, and covered with a piece of metallic (shiny) paper. I wired it directly in the wall with an old extension cord spliced onto the motor. I will post pics maybe tomorrow!!!
I don't know if it will work for your size, but it worked perfectly for mine.

Here are some of the pics I promised you of the turntable I made for the Ferrari. It turns 1 rpm, and plugs into the wall. The overhead lights and back-lit emblem also light up.

search web for 'battery operated display turntable' and should come up with a 12" diameter turntable for $15 that supports at least 8 lbs. idea is to use a smaller off the shelf turntable and add or replace the rotating surface with your own larger diameter disc or plate.

Thanks for the comps......I really appreciate the feedback. Princess Auto is a store up here (Winnipeg), but I think they exist in the STates too??? They sell all kinds of stuff....great store for mechanical people, and great store for hobbyists!!
