1/35 or 1/32 scale vehicles
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, May 3, 2005 3:50 PM
Hello all,

I need some 1/35 or 1/32 scale civilian vehicles to fill up an Operation Iraqi Freedom diorama I am building, but I haven't been able to find any. Anybody know where I can find some?

If your looking for a Tractor Trailer to use Revell or Monogram used to make a few 1/32 1/35 scale trucks. Francois Verlinden used one in a Israeli diorama. MACK truck with a few added details. Looks really great when detailed. These were SNAP-TOGETHER kits and were really cheap but had good detail for the price. Check the MATCHBOX and Lindberg lists for other vehicles. Some sports cars are available other than that......?

Best of luck.

Cheers;

Monogram did a few in snap together kits in 1/32nd. Have seen a Jeep CJ-7, a Sedan, a Datsun 280Z. Also have seen several VW bugs in that scale including a couple of military versions in 1/35th that could be converted.
Here is a link I found with some vehicles. Never dealt with the company though.

32nd is also popular for slot cars. Did a Google on 1/32 cars and got quit a few sites.
Good luck.

AMT/Ertl did some snap tite cars and trucks in 1/32 scale. I picked up a 1990s Chevy pick up truck to use as a modern "technical" vehicle with Skybow's .50 cal mount in the bed.

stephen: try squadron, greatmodels, tower hobby, there are plenty of new kits out there, although, not sure what time frame you are looking for. also, go to ebay in the "models" section, type in 1/32 and you'll get plenty of hits. primary makers are: ARII, Revell, Monogram, Airfix

also, there are a lot of die-cast kits out there that can be used as is, or stripped and redone. primaries: Corgi, Majorette

i'm also a 1./32 slot car nut and have several different fire engines, two tow trucks, one semi rig, and several cars (aston martin, porsche, jag, datsun 240z) to be used as scenic items on the layout.

and, i'm going to use the 1/32 Italeri Kaman Huskie helicopter on the layout as a rescue bird. not likely prototypical, but, its a funky looking bird and looks cool.

good luck!

I'm really amazed that there aren't any 1/35 Toyota pickups, they seem to be the Jeep or Hum-vee of the 3rd world, I'd think there would be at least 1 kit of a technical version.

MIG Productions do make a few Land Cruiser technicals as well as the burnt out car.

Airfix recently released a box set (in the UK anyway, I don't know anbout other countries) of three of their sixties car kits, the Ford Escort mk1, Vauxhall Viva and Triumph Herald.  I don't know how likely you'd be to see any of those on the streets of Iraq, but they're less exotic than a Ferrari.

I'm looking for 1:32nd cars at the moment as backdrops for 54mm figures, though my figure painting needs to improve to make it worthwhile.  I'm also thinking of doing some dark future/ Mad Max style combat cars.
