One for Chris (or anyone else with an answer)
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, May 8, 2005 2:11 AM
I`m just about to start a 1:24 M/Benz fire truck and would like to get the red colour correct (just like Chris`s signature photo). All my Humbrol reds arn`t quite close enough to what I want. Any comments please?

The color that I used on the 46 engine is the Krylon Fusion from a rattle can. It's made just for plastic and sprays very nicely and I have not had any orange peeling with it yet. I still put it on top of primer as that seems to give it the dark shine to it and the top it off with some Future.

Here's where you can get more info on it.

Thanks a lot for that Chris. I`m afraid that `Krylon Fusion` doesn`t ring any bells this side of the pond. I wonder if it`s available under another name over here (eg. your `Future` is our `Klear`).

I'm not sure , might be able to contact Krylon and ask if they have a product line there. If not I might could get some your way, just don't know what the requirements on shipping rattle cans are though.

Chris, I thought I`d solved the supply problem. I found an agent in Bristol (quite close to me - or so I thought). Transpired that this `Bristol` is in the states!!!

You might try sending them an email and asking them if there are any retailers over on your side of the pond. Here's a link to send in requests.

Well they might expedite it to sell more paint. I am still waiting to hear back on what type of paint is though from an email I sent them.

Chris, What amazing service. I received a reply today (from Ronseal Ltd - a well known company over here. I didn`t know that they were the parent company).
The nearest stockist of Krylon products is less than 4 miles from here! Guess where I`m going on Saturday? Thanks again for your help.

Wow, guess I was right about them getting back in touch quick to see some. Glad you can hopefully get some near by. Look forward to seeing how it turns out for you.
