Moto GP group build
Posted by pingtang on Thursday, May 12, 2005 9:35 PM
Hi everyone;

Seeing as though the RC211V group build has died a bit, how about we start again with a moto GP group build. You could bring your projects over from the RC211V build, and you could start a new build if you want. I thought it would be better to combine the RC211V and Yamaha M1 GB's instaed of having two seperate ones. Here's a badge you can use in your signature if you want:

I have a Tamiya YZR-M1 that I'll build for it. I have the spiderman decals on order for them, so I'll be ready to go in a few weeks. How about a June 1 start date and finish whenever. Let me know if you're interested and I'll see if there is enough people to start it up.

Hope to join u guys with my M1 and RCV. I once saw the real size M1 which O.Jaques crash during 2003 Malaysian GP that the base primer of the M1 is actualy red primer.

Pingtang you know of course- I'M IN! Got everything together on my Gauloises M1 finally, just need to set aside the time from working on my 1:1 YZF. Might try something new and do two at once. Now just where would I get that Valencia 211v cheap? Also, look for Q's from me on how to make templates for my C/F decals from the single sheet I have. Can't wait for this one!Tongue [:P] OH! Just how do I attach the badge to my sig?

You add an img <enter url> \img with square brackets around the img-parts and the url of the pic in the <enter url>.

I'm in, of course! Is this a new GB or continuation of the current one?

Good to see at least three people are interested, and a new guy too......

Yamafreak - To attach the badge to your sig, you need to copy the url into the signature section in your profile. First, right click on the badge in my first post and choose "properties". Copy the URL then go to "Update profile" at the top of the screen. paste the url into the "signature-text and graphic" space. You'll need to put [ img] and [ /img] (with no spaces at all) before and after the url.

Seabee - You must have posted while I was writing my novel on how to post the badge. Good to have you here again. I don't know if this will be a continuation or not. I think a whole new GB will be good. What do the rest of you think?

New? It might motivate me to get my West RC211V finished (about 75% done) and then start afresh on this one. Waiting on my S27 detail set, so I won't be starting till that arrives, anyways. Decided to give that route a try...

All you have to do is, go to your photobucket album and copy the complete line called "img" under the picture you want to post. Then just paste it into your message.

BTW, I couldn't get to see those pics in your photobucket. It needs a password to get in.

Seabee - I think an all new build would be better too. We don't have to start straight away, so you've got plenty of time. Just let me know when you want to start.

It's definitely not carbon fibre. It looks like a very dark blue. Each year, the Repsol team seems to be using a darker and darker blue. Looking at pics, it is almost black but there is a definite blue colour in there. Have a look at this photo to see what I mean:

So guys, did you see Tamiya is releasing the Desmosedici??? Good news huh?

Cupcai: That link only takes me to Colins rcv, seems you have to do some updates on the account to let us se other pics...

I too will of coarse lift my builds over to this GB. I'm doing some nice detailing of the forks for the moment.
best regards

They're good photos cupcai, thanks for posting them.

Joel - That Desmosedici should be awesome. Can't wait til it's released.

My spiderman decals should arrive early next week. Has anyone seen these decals yet? They're supposed to be really special. I'll post a pic of them when I get them.

Count me in too guys. I've got my M1 ready and waiting to go. Got the Tamiya Front Fork set through the door the other day, so looking forward to putting that on the bike. Also got my long awaited paint for my RCV (valencia from the GB). Going to make a start on spraying that up today.

Look forward to the 1st!Big Smile [:D]

Yamafreak - The pic is from the Tokyo Hobby show. The Tamiya sign is not visible on that pic unfortunately.

Pic? What pic? Am I missing something? It's only May, so the Texas heat hasn't had a chance to boil my brains yet. I did a Google and couldn't find tamiya's Desmo. Pointers?

UHHH...NEVERMIND! Found your thread, Joel! I wonder who's bike they're going to do...

Yamafreak - I think we could expect a Checa/Capirossi setup even though I would personally like a Dántin bike more... (Bit tired of the Marlboro, or "factory" bikes)

Welcome worgoose. Before I start slapping my M1 together, I was wondering if anyone knew of anybody who's built this kit yet? My last was Rossi's '02 RCV, as a matter of fact, my last 4 builds have been '02 and '03 RCVs with a V-22 thrown in for variety. I'm sure I'll experience typical Tamiya high quality, but am wondering if there's anything to watch out for.

From what I've heard from my friends at Yahoo Motorcyclemodelling discussion group it will be a smash and grab job. There are always detailing to do of coarse but no big irregularities.

We can start right now if you want....... I'm ready to go if you are. Do you want to go and post the thread on the GB forum? Or shall I?

BTW, I got the Fortuna M1 the other day. And I also got my spiderman decals in the mail. Also got the tobacco decals for the Gauloises bike aswell, so I've got two M1's to build. Can't wait.......

My M1 detail set at the PO. I don't work in the same town I stay in, so my wife has to pick it up. But it's been raining cats, dogs and small dragons around here for the last week (which we desperately need!) and I told her (can you believe it...) it's not that urgent that she must walk around in the rain to get it.

But yeah, I'm ready, don't know about the rest of the guys... I think you can just start the GB post, since it was your idea. I am actually between ideas for the GB at this stage. I have the M1, burning me, but I also have a rather unlike-me-rather-radical idea I want to try on a RC211V...

I am still a bit new to this. What is a group build and what is involved.

Cupcai do you have a photo of the 2001 Yamaha YZR 500 that had black and white stripes along the side of the tail peice, Tamiya supply the decals as extras in kit 88 but no reference

Seabee- How about we start it in a few weeks? I've got a few other projects going at the moment, and it'll also give me time to get some paints I need for my Spiderman M1. What about a Sunday 19th June start date?

Andrew - A group build is basically a group of people building a model each based on a subject or theme. In this case it's all moto GP bikes, but there are group builds for certain types of aircraft, battles etc. They're good for sharing reference material, and talking with people who are interested in the same subject as you. Anyone can enter, as long as your subject fits in with the theme of the GB.
