Look good to me! Well worth the effort! From what I can see, the cockpit looks real good!

Only questions I have: was the exhaust that yellow colour - looks good to match the stirpe. And are those the decals included in the kit, or where did you get those? (I was looking at the model over last weekend, wondering whether or not to get it)

I guess there were some colored coating teams used in the 60's. That yellow is stock to the 1:1. White was also a popular color for exhaust. Thanks for the word on the cockpit. One note of warning about this model,(the testors "Famous Fords" kit) none of the pieces fit. The thing was a real bastard to get together. And so much was chromed I spent a ton of time just stripping and sanding. Suprisingly, once things were assembed, I popped the wheels on and it sat perfectly square. Those are Fred Caddy decals. On the yellow stripes I needed to cut white background decals so the green wouldn't bleed through.

nice work scott05 Can you tell me what you used to break down the kit to rebuild?

Hey Ken, I used Castrol SuperClean to strip the old paint. Testors type glue was used originally and that was sanding/filling/ and redrilling pilot holes. That was the fun part of this, to get everything broken down without too much damage. It seems that this is the cheap way to go with some neat old kits. Find something partially built and then rebuild.

scott05, Thanks for the reply as I will give it a try. I'm in the process of rebuilding a old Revell 23 Depot Wagon which I froozed ,dropped and whatever to get it down, the only chemical I didn't try was CSC. I will be trying it very soon as I have a old 65 Mustang Fastback, ( think it's a Monogram Kit ) to redo for a friend. Thanks for the info appreicate.

Great work!

I have a real soft spot for anything Lotus produced, and as a born-and-raised Hoosier, the Indy cars are way at the top of my favorites list. I love the longer-on-the-outside suspension arms made specifically for the left-turn-only Brickyard.

I've never tackled that particular kit, but I have a couple of the AMT cars (which appeared in the "Indy Hall of Fame" big-box gift set). I know what you mean about the fit, though, and I give you a lot of credit for building such a great looking model from such a hard-to-build kit!

I used Tamiya spray British Green which I think is #TS-9. I think it is darker than the Racing Green that Tamiya has. I don't use an airbrush and while I have heard some bad things about Tamiya sprays they have always worked well for me.
