AMT chevelle kit
Posted by Anonymous on Thursday, May 26, 2005 6:24 PM
Has anyone built the 69 chevelle model?
I just bought one and plan on getting the conversion kit from modelhaus to convert it to a 68. this will be a gift to my father (he had a 68 when he was my age).
I am new to building cars and am open to any hints and tips to making this thing look good!
thanks.

212 -

Just get as many pictures of the real thing and work from there. If you can get pics of your Dad's even better. You have to follow most of the instruction from the kit but there's always room to make it personal. Basic building tips are test fit everything, don't be afraid to sand when necessary and use as little glue as possibe!

If you're really new, go to the Testors website and download/print their modeling guide. Lots of good stuff there.

Archer out.

unfortunately the ol man doesn't have any pictures, but he remembers the color, year and engine size, which is all I need to know. the kit comes with a 350 rather than the 307 he had, but oh well. should be a nice model by the time im done.
I am polishing up my skills on a willys jeep that is coming along well.

I don't think there were many, if any, visual differences between the 307 and the 350, except the sticker on the air cleaner...you could find one on the net and scale it down and print it for your kit....
