Removing Chrome Plate

I've found Easy Off the easiest (Blue Can ) It will strip enamel paints, chrome and also will not harm most clear parts as other products may do. Get a container with a cover, place parts in to be stripped, spray away from yourself ( fumes burn ) cover and leave sit , about 2 hrs. and the chome will peel off. Use rubber gloves to handle parts and clean in warm soapy water with a small tooth brush. Don't reuse. Play safe and Happy Modeling.

I have had pretty good luck with bleach. Takes the chrome off right in front of your eyes. Only once so far has it not worked and that was on a 30 year old kit part, guess teh chrome was pretty happy being on it at that point.

I tried DOT3 brake fluid recently and it worked OK. Didnt peel off easy peasy - needed a bit of scraping but it worked. The brake fluid was old though.

Bleach - nice and clean and works every time, every household has some and you don't have to use special containers - just pour into a bowl and wash out afterwards.

The other thing you can use is Mr Muscle oven cleaner. Put the items into a plastic bag squirt some oven cleaner in and leave for 20-30 minutes, then wash off with warm soapy water.

I allways use household cleaner (with amonia) - the white stuff you clean the bath with! Over here, we have a "normal" cream one and a gel one - I founs a mix between the two works a charm. You mix them, throw you piece in there (I leave it in overnight), take it out, wash off the cleaner and let dry.

I use Westly's Bleche White whitewall tire cleaner. You can get it at the local NAPA in a gallon jug... best part is you can reuse it as long as you filter it out. It's only like $5 per gallon,. too

i just paint over mine

Castrol Super Clean works great and is biodegradable. Takes off paint and chrome pretty quickly. It's also reusable. I ended up just putting a rubbermaid tub on the porch and rotate poor paint jobs and chrome out as needed. Just make sure you use gloves.

Anything with ammonia will work.
