Ghost - I'm not sure that acrylics are the way you want to go here. Especially if the tires are real rubber. Try using a flat white primer. It doesn't run and it's more pliable.

The older tires had the words "GOODYEAR" sprayed on in white, so I wouldn't worry too much about achieving perfection. You could buy a stencil from a good F1 model supplier and not use the EAGLE part of it for the older tires.
If you decide to go the stencil route the raised letters can be removed the same way you remove the seam, gentle sanding.
If you want the raised letters, practice, practice, practice!

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.

Ghost,
I have used Tamiya paint stick and it works well. One tip is to get the stick and paint some scrap card or plastic with the stick pointing toward the ceiling to get rid of the excess paint before going to the tyre (tire).
Also try wiping the tyre with alcohol bnad letting it dry off before painting. Silicon is often used to make the tyre release from the master and it sometimes is not removed before packaging. This will cause all sorts of problems for painting.

Now, I dont know if this would help, but when I paint figures,I spray flat black lightly ovr the thing that needs to be painted,so when I paint it with acrylics, they stick to the flat black. If the letters on the tires are small,I would use a tooth pick. Now I dont know if this would help on tires, because you would have to spray the whole tire..but still dont know if this would help

raised lettering on F1 goodyear tires

Does anyone have any ideas on how to paint the lettering on Tamiya F1 tires? I have had only okay results with brush painting. The larger rear tires are passable from a distance, but close up it's okay at best. The front tires don't look good from any distance. Even after washing the tires thouroughly the paint doesn't want to lay down. I'm using Tamiya acyrlics.
