Thanks proosen. This is the first F1 car i've ever done. There are a lot of things that I'll do differently on the next one, but I'm pretty pleased for a first effort. I think the key is reference pictures. A few thousand good photos go a long way.

I am guessing from what I'm seeing that it's a convertion from the 1:12 Tamiya 641/2 . After seeing this, I feel like dumping mine in a bin. And if this is an even smaller scale, I want to meet you in person to congratulate you! Agreed, reference pics are priceless!

Thanks SeeBee. This is actualy the Rosso 1:8 scale kit with a ton of scratch built and PE work added in.

The electronics connectors are from Perfect Parts. Truth is, if you have a metal lathe, you can make them yourself. Add in a little heat-shrink tubing from Home Depot and you're good to go.

The seat is upholstered in Italian Cabretta Suede and the entire electronics and telemetry system is scratch-built.

I'm a little concerned / curious as to how this car will do in competition. I built it to look like a runner. All the dings, dents, scratches and scrapes from the 1:1 prototype were reproduced on the 1:8 replica. I'll be interested to see how the judges respond to it.

I saw you did some "weathering". What does the outside of the car look like?

From what I saw , you can take this baby to the competition. I, for one, am very impressed.

Woodbeck - I get most of my hoses and fittings from medical supply stores (IV tubing) and Radio Shack (electronic wiring). I also get some good stuff from fabric and craft stores (metal thread, etc.) I'd imagine you could find just about anything you need in any scale if you look hard enough.

Also, a lot of my really small wiring is actually the guts of big cables that have been pulled out and separated. If you go buy a few feet of the stuff they use to hook up your cable TV receiver and pull the insides out, you'll get a lot of good plastic and metal hoses and tubes that you can use in most any scale.
