Finished this one up today finally. Was'nt sure I was going to finish in time to take it to Nationals or not.

Looks terrific, Chris. Looks like a 'glam' shot from a Ford brochure. Although both my Dad and I have had rides in one of these recently-so it's a little spooky.

PS: Did you see the post of the WWII Russian fire truck- really cool.

Awesome build. The only nitpick I would have is that the hoses look a bit large for scale and a bit "soft" (perhaps due to the coarse weave of the material). If it's not too late, have you thought about laces for dress-shoes (iron flat?)?

Thanks. I thought the same about the hoses myself but looks better than nothing in there. I had not thought about dress shoe laces. Don't think I have ever seen them anything but black or brown and hose don;t some in those colors. Well after a nice fire they do , but you don't want to get with those loaded on the truck.

This site appears to have something that may be close; what about other shoe stores? (You may have to look in the women's section... they're likely to have a number of colors available)

A couple of other options:

Venetian blind/curtain sash cord.
Fiberglass sleeve (used to insulate wires); This place might have what you're looking for, but it looks like you have to buy in bulk; other places might be willing to sell by the foot: http://cableorganizer.com/fiberglass/

Now that fireglass sleeve looks like it would be great. There is even the right sizes for scaled down 1 3/4 and 2 1/2 " hoses. I will have to look into that and see if I can find it in some smaller quantities. Thanks.

The marker lights are the ones that came with the kit of the F-150. The strobes are actually spot lights and for those I used a styrene disc painted silver int he middle and black around the edges with headlight lenses from the parts bin for the lenses. Those are the white ones on the sides of the body.

The red ones on the grill are some jewels that you can get from a craft store.

Spitfire 321 - Don't know what site that could have been. And right now I am far from having another one completed. Been a bit busy latley.

Bill- The truck is based off of a AMT 93 F-150 kit. everything from the cab back was scratchbuilt though. The tires are glued on resin pieces. I always glue them on so they don't roll and I find something that has went off the shelf.
