New to car models
Posted by Anonymous on Saturday, July 30, 2005 8:42 PM
Hi,
I usually build airplanes, helicopters and anything else I can get my hands on, but cars so far has been missing from my list. Now, I bought a Revell hardtop lowrider (I can't recall the type, it just looks cool), and I'd like to know if I need to know anything special about building cars. I already read websites on it, but I wonder if anyone has anything interesting to point out.
Right now one specific question comes into my mind: how do you achieve that very smooth, very shiny finish on cars? (If you just put gloss finish on it it will look helplessly plastic -at least on airplanes it does. That rich, deep shine is missing. Should I use multiple light coats with polishing between?)
Also, I wonder if you could give me an advice on the following: on any scale I'd like to biuld a Crysler PT Cruiser, a Prowler and a H2 (the first and the last are my girlfriend's favorites: they look like toy cars to her, only lifesize). Are there any particular company that makes good kits on these?

Thank you.

They do not have wings or propellers! Other than that the modeling process is pretty much the same, ie glue em and paint em. Try it you'll like it.

You're exactly right about polishing between coats. try to use colors mixed with a smidge of sliver maybe to give it the metallic shine. but yeah, you pretty much have it right on! good luck!
