evilbob,
A few thoughts on the original Mini...
THE reference book is The Original Mini restoration guge byAnders Ditlev Clausager. If it ever happened to a Mini this book will have a reference to it.
One popular option was the British Flag (Union Jack) painted on the roof and British Racing Green was the second most popular colour choice after red.
The truly psychodelic colours came later in the decade but many early Mini's were repainted to match the mood of the times so feel free to get all the groovy shades of the day.
Also there were available a number of "flower power" adhesive stckers in the amazing colours of lime green and purple and others shaped like flowers which were very popular after market accessories.
Think Carnaby Street , Austin Powers and Jimi Hendrix.
If you decide to really get into it and buy retro flared pants please do not post about it here!
Good luck, Cheers , Pete.

The Mini dedicated to the British Open (golf classic) is an interesting paint and interior scheme. The interior of the one (and only one) I saw was a light tan leather scheme. The exterior is British racing green. I cannot remember the specifics but there was a special emblem regarding the "Open". Maybe the company was trying to sell the idea that the Mini could be used as a golf cart!

The last time I was in England I saw a rally of about 50 Minis in a wide variety of colors and a lot of them were, or appeared to be, custom paint jobs. The Brits love their Minis.

Mini Cooper mk1 help....
Posted by Anonymous on Sunday, August 14, 2005 8:41 PM
I've just decided to build Tamiya's 1/24 Mini Cooper Mk1 (1960), and the official colours leave me a bit cold - and I'm sick of building red cars. I thought that it would look good in yellow, or possibly a hot-pink, since it's a 60's car.
Does anyone know what the interior/ exterior colour combinations were for a 1960's Mini? And was there an official option of either of these colours? A link to some pics would be appreciated.
Any detail pictures would be handy too - engine bay, dashboard, that kind of thing. I've searched Google images but can't find much in this area...
Can anyone help?
