Avruk, I have got to agree with Ryan on this one. Try for the newer Tamiya models. From the MP4/13 onwards they really fly together like a dream. The Ferrari's are of course the easiest to start with as they have a very simple paintscheme. Stay away from the Williams for a first try, I've not yet built my two, but they are apparently a bit more tricky.
Revell kits, admittedly was more impressive than I thought. If you'd like a more current version kit, that's the way to go. I recently built the Jordan EJ10 (the Buzzin Hornets one...) and it was such a nice build that I decided to get myself the Sauber as well. At a first glance the Sauber seems a bit better as far as quality of mould is concerned. Will see shortly! And yes, my F2002 is also in the cupboard - that will be my next big-scale project!
Apart from that there is a heap of resin options available, but for a first try, I'd say go for Revell or Tamiya. Depends on what you want, really. Be prepared to work a bit more at the Revell kit if you go that way and it will come out very nicely indeed. From your specs, I'd say go for the Tamiya F2000 or F2001... Check out scale motorsport's range of PE (and templated CF) sets if you'd like to add that...
We started talking about starting a F1 GB later this year or maybe early next year, so it could be fun to join...
