Tamiya lacquer removal
Posted by gbritnell on Friday, July 11, 2003 2:53 PM
I recently purchased a Tamiya Ford Focus rally model. I dedcided I would try Tamiya's new lacquer paints on this kit. The paints go on superbly, they lay down flat and give an excellent shine. I painted the main body color and then spent about an hour masking for the secondary color (dark blue). I cut the decals out and used them as a template for the masking. Everything seemed to be fine untill I tried to match the masking with the decal on the rear of the car. It seems that I got the dark blue a little to far over for the decal to cover so I decided to strip the whole thing and start over. At first I tried Easy Off oven cleaner, no luck! I then tried brake fluid, still no luck! Has anyone tried to strip these new lacquers? If so I could sure use some help.
Thanks in advance,
George
