'84 - '96 Corvettes

What is the proper engine color for an '87 Corvette? The instructions say blue, and the picture looks like Pontiac Engine Blue which seems totally wrong. Would it be a light blue, or Chevy Engine Red? The copyright date is '86 so I am guessing that the color may be true for the initial production variants.

Also, the intake manifold is shown painted blue which seems wrong for an '87 Corvette. The transmission is also painted blue.

I don't know much about Vettes, I'm more of a Mustang guy. I just happened to pick up a kit cheap at a garage sale.

Ryan,

Amt or Mpc sidebox pix where not always accurate, the engine block & components should be painted semi-gloss black, valve covers & TPI intake manifold should be flat silver (dull aluminium), as for the transmission should also be flat silver.

Chevy engine red was phased out on chevy engine blocks in the late 70's switching to light blue, then ongoing in the 80's to semi gloss black to standerized GM engine paint color to all divisions.

Thanks Heavy! My search on Yahoo didn't turn up anything.

That site would be so much better if it had some pictures.
