Flash on Tires

How can you remove flash from tires? I tried using an x-acto knife and sanding, but the flash is too thin to sand away and cutting didn't work.

I made this tool from a couple of rubber washers, some threaded rod and some nuts from the local hardware store. I chuck ti up in a cordless drill and spin the tire while I sand it.
When in doubt just build it. Mark http://www.ipmslivonia.org/ipms/

The tires I am using aren't slicks and the tread prevents the flash from being sanded past the tread. I'm going to try to use a very small sharpened screwdriver to remove the flash. Hopefully it works.

I have also made this tool. I put it in the drill press and it works great. Adds realisum to the tires. Don't sand to aggressive on tires with tread, you only need to knock off the shine. I use a sharp #11 blade to remove the flash from between the treads down the middle of the tires.
