MM METALIZER PAINT

They are not enamels. They are laqcuers that are pre-thinned and should be sprayed on, not brushed. If you are interested in using them, but do not have an airbrush, you can purchase a cheap spray gun kit at Wal Mart for $20 which includes everything you need.

Metalizers should be sprayed on. After an hour, they should be buffed(if buffing) and then sealed with MM Metalizer Sealer. The sealer should also be sprayed on. You can spray it without thinning. MM Metalizers can't be masked with masking tape. The paint is very fragile. You can use wet strips of paper laid on the model to mask areas. MM Sealer also makes a nice final coat and can be sprayed over the entire aircraft except for the clear parts.

I have brushed on the Testor's Metalizer paints in smaller areas and had no problems.
As stated they are very thin so you may need a few coats, let each dry thoughly before putting on another.
The non buffable seems to "hold" on the plastic better and I have NOT put the sealer over the non buffable metalizers. Sealer is a must for the buffable as it comes off on your fingers and is then transfered to areas you may not want it!

If multiple coats are needed with the BUFFABLE, do I buff between coats or wait till I'm happy with the final coverage and THEN buff it?

Buff between and after coats.

They are great paints. I use them all the time now. They work great for dry brushing as well . As far as how they look, here's a couple of samples.

The fuel tank, air tank are done with them.


I stripped the kit chrome and used aluminum and stainless steel on this stuff.


The pedestal on the right is done with regualr paints, ont he left is Metalizers.


And when I tried it out on a large area.


As you can tell I am sold on them.
