I Started racing go karts because 1: they are cheaper to build
2:you can actually DRIVE them
I presently have two big boxes of R/C junk (I raced associated cars and trucks) that I invested at least 3 to 4 thousand Bucks in . Peak detection chargers , 10 amp power supply , and all sorts of hop up parts and spares . MY Advise: if you just plan on having a little fun OK , If you start competing , plan on spending some serious cash if you want to be competitive .

Do you have any experience in R/C cars ? If not I wugest you start with a kit, just to learn what makes one of those cars tick.
I might also suggest you pay a visit to http://rcuniverse.com lots of specialised people there.
