Hey, I actually have a 206 I want to open door, etc... Have it in the cupboard together with Rennaisance set to enable door-opening, as well as all kinds of other nice gooddies...

Think we can reproduce the engine popping sound with some popcorn? Big Smile [:D]

That's easy, when you put the dremel in the back of the car, give a squeeze and the sound of a 1/20 V-10 firing up comes out.

At what point madness?  I wish I knew.  After my Williams escapade I am convinced that I will go down the road again.  In fact, I'm already planning it out.  The Tamiya Mercedes C-9 with about 4-5 photoetch sheets of goodies, doors open, wheels off, airjacks down... anything else I can think of to do.  I don't know where it comes from, just that it looks soooo cool when done!

Geez boys where does it end? How far can we push the boundaries of modelling endeavour?

Now for the FIA label on the overalls, the fire-proofs underneath and do not forget the one behind the steering wheel! Wink [;)]

I'm stuck brushing water based flat paints on my cars. I wish I had the patience for the fine detailing in order to enter into the local competitions.

Currently I'm building a Petty 1981 Buick Nascar. This is a great kit and a very enjoyable build. I'm using paints I have lying around on my table. The end result of course will be a car without any resemblence to the Petty Nascar Buick. I'm unable to step it up to the next level like you are doing for one reason or another. Looking forward to your pics, Bill.

Yes I'm now photo etching the chassis number plate for the firewall and stencilling the FIA authorisation numbers on the undersides of the seats!!!!

Yes seriously you are quite correct, seeing and hearing what everyone is doing certainly has raised my game .

Yup, just when you think you are King of the mountain, somebody comes along and raises your game.  I've noticed that as well.  Thanks to all of you out there who show me that as good as I think my work is, it can still be better.  I'll keep trying and enjoying the results as my work improves.

I know the feeling.
Try for perfection, then relief it will be covered by the skid plates.
And when you are sure you will never try that again, a friend looks at the model and asks where you bought it. You tell them you made it and they look at you as if your an artist.
That sets the stage for another attempt. . .

Don

I know it's only rock and roll, but I like it.

Yeh, I know what you're saying SeaBee. The very same thought crosses my mind every time I paint the underside of the engine of another Tamiya Subie or Pug WRC, knowing full well it's about to be covered up by the bash plate. And every time I do it, I make sure I try to do it better than the last one. I get close, but never perfect, so then I try to get closer next time, & then...... In a perverse way, it is actually quite rewarding. Out of control, I often hear my non-modelling friends mutter.

Cheers

This morning I found myself sitting (not so strange) and thinking (now there's a scary one...)

What I was thinking was also a very common thought to myself. Went something in the lines of "What the ... are you doing?" I was sitting there, concentrating very hard on getting a bit of masking just right. On the freaking exhaust box of a rally car! Not too long ago I would not even have painted it! Then later I might have contemplated painting it, but free-hand. Who's gonna see it anyways?!

This just showed me the level you guys have lifted my game to. Just the general awareness of more detail and of doing things better. All of that in a very friendly and not a (thank goodness!) competitive nature.

Thanks to all - it's a pleasure "hanging out" with you! Thumbs Up [tup]
