Yep, I have done a few RC bodies and it is essentially the same process for slot car bodies (ie. the clear type bodies). It's pretty much the reverse of the sequence used for "normal" models.
Firstly, you need to use paints specifically formulated for clear polycarbonate bodies - this is because the bodies flex when they take an impact. - conventional model paints will crack and flake. For example, Tamiya make a "PS" series of spray cans and a "PC" range of brushable acrylic based paints specifically for clear bodies.
Paint from the inside, starting with the darker colors first and then adding the lighter colors. If painting a design or pattern on the "inside", then it should be done before painting the overall "base" color.
