WIP: 32 3W Coupe
Posted by proosen on Friday, December 16, 2005 3:03 AM
Hi guys!
Time to present another of my builds, they turn out to be quite a few these days
In time I'll get them all finished until then you have to bear with me.
Some time ago a CBP was asked for at a Swedish magazine and the outcome was the Revell 32 Coupe.
I had a bit of a paint job problem, it chipped on the roof so I had to strip it and came up with a different approach.
Take a look on the following link and you'll see where I'm about today.
Lowered over the frame, widened track width front and rear, home made leaf spring up front, headers made from solder and an old antenna.
Took a chance making the masking out of plain paper glued on the body with water soluble white glue before putting on the second colour.
Did the outlining with a gel-pen and it worked like a charm!
Well, enough small talking....let's get down to buisness and have a look at the car.

Cheers!
Niclas

Nice detail work. The paint really turned out great. Was it hard getting the masking paper off? Nice effect though. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Thank's!

The paper came of very easy, the down side is that it almost peels of by it self.

Care must be taken after the glue is dry so it won't come of before the paint is on.

But I think it worked very well and I will try it again, maybe it's a good trick on those complex camoflage patterns that's on tanks and planes. Don't know how it works on flat colours, maybe it will have to great bite to that surface?

If its white glue, then it water soluable so if it did stick real good, you could just flow some water onto it and clean it up like that without hurting your paint job. if your looking for a soft edge camo paint, this wouldn't work that well. To do a soft edge, you need the mask to be held off the surface just a little bit, and some guys even do them free hand!
