Progress report on my Cherry 2000 Mustang
Posted by MartianGundamModeler on Tuesday, December 20, 2005 1:00 PM

I finally got a card reader for my digicam and I can FINALLY start posting pics! Here is my Cherry 2000 Mustang Project...

First the subject: Off road modified (Baja?) 1965/66 Mustang from Cherry 2000

I sanded off the "chrome" from the side valance and shaved the emblems....

I had to cut out the molded in rear end (AMT kit ) in order to install the new rear end from a Revell Jeep CJ 7 donor kit. I had to fill the gaping hole with styrene sheet.

The jeep tire on the left was too big and had no lettering. Very plain. Used the wide set of tires fron the stang kit with the jeep wheels. The jeep wheels are not movie accurate but are the closest I can get right now. There is a Plymouth Baracuda kit out there with the wheels I need. Look out 'cuda I'm coming for you....

The factory dash was modified with a bit from the floor console of an AMT Nova kit to make the dash displays and the stang kit included the role cage and a set of racing buckets. I opted for the factory seats because though the racing seats would be more practical the movie car had basicly stock seats...

I cut out the sunroof and the body was "dipped" in automovtive type rattle can red (can't remember the brand or color name found it on a clearance isle!LOL). Added the optional scoop from the kit which happens to be like the one on the real stang.

This will give you an idea of the stance when it is completed. I still need to raise the front end to match the rear...

I also posted this in the Sci fi section...
