No, that is true... esp some of the older Revell kits was really bad in that way. Allready the Sauber was a huge improvement. As said earlier, I've heard good reports about the newer kits. You can look at

Back to the quality of moulding - it is unfortunately something F1 modelers are getting more and more used to, since you have limited choices: old Tamiya models, Revell's (ever-improving) models, albeit in 1:24 or resin kits - expensive and needs so much more work than a few mould lines and pin marks. Correcting the Revell "errors" feels like negligible effort.
Yes, the assembly process is slightly different. Is different bad? A lot of the time you don't follow the precise steps in the booklet, anyways... (Or maybe that's just me.)
But give it a try, I'd build some more of them for sure. One of which being the 1:12th F2002 in the cupboard.
