This might help with the available colors back in 1957 - Auto Color Library.
Engine block = chevy orange / red (it's a reddish orange).
Exhaust pipes = aluminum, steel or silver (Testors has all 3 colors).
Exhaust manifolds = usually left unpainted and rusty, but can paint same as engine or exhaust. Or if hearders = black, white, silver or gold.
Undercarriage = frame - semi-gloss black, underside of floor - flat or semi-gloss black.
Shocks = GM Delco - blue or newer Monroe's - yellow.
Dashboard = gloss.
Seats & door panels = semi-gloss (leather).
Carpeting = flat.
Console = semi-gloss.
Suspension parts = semi-gloss or gloss black.

Check out - Muscle Car Club's Corvette Picture Gallery. Some neat pics.

Hope that gives you some help.

Chevy engines of that viintage are painted Chevy Engine Red. Testors Model Masters paints have this color. Looking at the color it is more orange than red.

Well, most of the models I have seen of this era the block is painted orange. Not everything is gloss on a car, the interior is usually a mixture of gloss, semi-gloss and flat, depending on what part it is. The undercarriege is probably going to be a semi-gloss black, but I would refer to the instructions for the exact color. The exhaust can be painted silver, maybe a little darker for the exhaust manifolds. Good luck with it!

This is my first car in over 40 years.  I normally build WWII planes, armor and ships.  I saw this 57 MPG I guess it is, corvette.  It is molded in red.  My brother hasd a 58 but I can't find that year.  Question is, what color is the engine block, exhaust pipes and undercarriage.  I use tamiya acrylics.  Is everything on a car gloss?  I picked up a can of metalflake red to paint the body.  Any help apprecated and any links to online builds would help.  This is going to be fun.
