mcpherson23:

save yourself some work' if the restoration is to actually run the slot car; check your local hobby shop for 1/43 slot cars, they should also carry replacement parts such as tires and wheels. If not do a search on the internet for 1/43 slot car parts (tyco, strombecker and parma) come to mind. This can work if just a restoration.

You should take a look at this great tutorial on ScaleWiki about resin casting.

Casting Resin Part I: Making the mold

Resin Casting Part II: Making the part

You could probably buy a set of tyres from one of the slot car sites ready made.  Although I'm not into them myself Patto's Place springs to mind (http://www.pattosplace.com) - I'm sure there are dozens more if you did a Google search.

Molding Rubber Tires
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 13, 2006 6:12 PM
I am attempting to restore an old slot-car (approximately 1/43rd scale; a Motorific car by Ideal).  Unfortuneately the tires are dry-rotted.  Any suggestions as to how to create/mold new rubber tires, or a reasonable facsimile?
