Help please on a BTTF DeLorean idea
Posted by Martsmodels on Sunday, March 12, 2006 5:36 PM

Hi All - My daughter's fiance is a bit of a Sci-fi nut and asked me the other night if I could make him a BTTF DeLorean.   It seems there are three models in 1/24 by Aoshima which seem to be the best bet.
From what I can find on the net the best appears to be the first one. (is that right?)

I read on another site about mounting models with neons underneath and thought that this would suit the BTTF car exactly - even better if the neons would pulse!

This is only a germ of an idea at present but I thought that the DeLorean mounted on a mirror base with pulsing neons would be a really unique idea (!!)

Has anyone any ideas on this one, and how I could pull it off???

Every bit of info welcomed - thanks

Well I'm not sure how you can go about getting neon lights to pulse (maybe stop in at a Radio Shack), but take a look at some Hobbico products at Tower Hobbies, they have some neat stuff that might help you get started.

Case

Lights

Power module
- or -
AC/DC  power adapter

Check out some computer lighting systems.  They got a bunch of light controllers, neon lights, and all.  www.svc.com should have a bunch.  They do run on 12V though... I t hink..

Thanks Guys - there's loads of stuff there that should do the job but I think the double alternative faders on the fibreoptics site may be the best for what I want.  I still have to source the kit yet and I think I'll try and push him towards the first car from Aoshima but in the end the decision will be his and not mine.

Creekdude - I use Firefox too and can thoroughly recommend installing Clip Cache.  Every time you 'copy' it captures it so you can arrange into folders if you want and keep or discard as you want and then paste later.  It's a great program for multiple photo uploads for instance on sites like this because you can just copy each from your photo host and then paste them all in however you like.   There's a free download at http://www.woundedmoon.org/win32/clipcache.html

Cheeers - Martin.
