Got nothing to add about the paint except that I've had good luck with it, but man, that Firebird--Likitty, that's one sweet build.  Keep 'em coming, man!

Thanks, man. The kit is/was the Revell 1968 Firebird with spoilers donated from a Revell 1969 Camaro. The hood scoops have been opened up from behind and a MCG photoetched emblem kit has also been added. The wheels are from a Revell 1932 Ford with tires from an AMT 1997 Camaro Z/28 kit. It all just fell together for me.

 

 

 

 

Great Question!! I just bought a '32 coupe and Orange Pearl paint and was wondering how to correctly paint it also.

WOW !!! NICE !!! Now thats a paint job.  I never really used white primer..but as you can clearly see it turned out great. Thats one of the best paint jobs i have seen in a while. And its on a very nice car, well done sir. What kit did you use?

This is an example of the Boyds Orange Pearl over a couple of coats of white primer.

Six top coats below four coats of clear, then polished and waxed.

 

 

 

Ok well you can really go either way here. I would use a base color close as possible to the color you want to end up with,even a primer tinted to an orange would be good. Or just a close color. You might should try a couple different colors on an old car body or something first. The effect you want may be different than what i would do. The pearl colors tend to be a little transparent so multiple thin coats may be needed. So do say ..one fender with an orange then another in silver over a primer. Then try your pearl. Keep in mind that after you do a final clear coat it will look a little different. I hope this helps. Ohh yeah make sure you let each coat dry a day or two before you add another over it. If this is confusing let me know and ill try to make it more clear.

Im no expert but...I have used these a before. A base color is best. Depends on what color you are using as a final color. Sometimes a base color close to the color you want to end up with. Other times I have used a silver over a gray primer then the final color. You really want to clear coat over your final color for sure no matter what color you use. There are probably some guys here with alot more experience with these paints, hopefully they will help you out. What color do you want to use? It may help with a more specific answer.
