Help with building Testors Famous Fords Lotus 38
Posted by stuboyle on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 11:43 AM

I just aquired one of Testors Famous Fords Lotus 38 kits.  This is Jim Clark's Indy 500 winning car from 1968.  Bye the way, this doesn't look like a very good kit, so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless they are a Jim Clark, Lotus or Indy 500 nut, like myself.

I did a search and found a member, "scott05", who built a very nice one.  The thread is here:

Doing a bit a research, it appears there were 5 Lotus 38's in the 1965 500.  The 1966 race looks like the same car that raced in 1965, except for the livery.  The Lotus from 1967 also looks the same except it appears they dispensed with the airscoops in that year.  Can someone confirm this?

I would appreciate any comments from anyone that has a bit of knowledge regarding the Lotus 38 and/or someone who has built the Testors Famous Fords kit.  I assume there is no alternative to this kit.

Thanks, Stuart
