Ross Gibson engines ?

Myself, I've got no experience with Ross Gibson engines,  but i will try one or two when the time comes. I have heard that they are really good with the detail, but are expensive, too. Keep us posted wit what you think!

Why spend the money on expensive pre-built engines when you can do the same thing yourself?

Unless you have tons of money? In that case you can send some my way and I'll build your engine for you. 

I detail mine like his that come with each kit. Sometimes I add some extra parts besides wires. Most of the extra parts I either scrounge around the house for (even from finished kits) or make myself from different things.

That way my engines always fit and I have the money left to buy more kits. 

Jhande  i can add to your statement by saying if you want a particular engine you can usually buy a model that has it for 10-15 bucks and even if you throw the model out you saved 5-8 bucks over ross engines

And then you end up with a kit you can build and stick the other engine in it. 

JH & Durr,Your points are very valid,I just think r>g> engines have exceptional detal,From water pump to tranny tailpiece.I don't use them in every build,only when I open the box & find a pathetic,generic looking engine that would require AM carb,distributor,valve covers & intakes.  Semper fi , rudedog

I've seen Ross Gibson Engines selling around $20. to $25. each. I personally would try to work out something cheaper, but that's just me. Even if I start with the engine/tranny that came with the kit, I'll scrounge through my spare parts to try and doctor it up. I'll even spend the time to paint little details like the intake bolts, or run some vacuum lines and such. Adding extra details somewhat hides the fact that the original lacked some.

Anyways, sorry for trying to steer you away from ordering shoehorn in motors. 

I believe his engines are made of resin and probably based on just a certain few stock kit sizes. Contacting him might help get a better explaination regarding his products. But I think you'll be stuck customizing the chassis to get them to fit in most case's. Kind of like trying to put a 454 cu.in. in a Vega, a bit of alteration is necessary.
